Well, I’ve been banging away at this all day and, again, it’s a newspaper-destined puzzle that doesn’t quite fit the bill for me. It isn’t too hard – it’s just that the chosen theme isn’t one that will be universally popular. It isn’t specialist, but… oh, just solve it and see. Anyway, my good friend Flashling managed to polish off yesterday’s early offering with indecent haste and wondered what to do for the rest of the weekend, so here we go: http://crossword.info/anaxcrosswords/STFW007 (of course, that should read SFTW but it’s late and I’m tired). It’s been a few weeks since I posted one of these – and in fact I didn’t intend to. This was meant for newspaper publication but I’ve held it back because some of the answers are a bit more obscure than I’d like. With final preparations for tomorrow’s Sloggers & Betters to sort out, I still wanted to begin work on a new puzzle today. It turned out to be more evidence that the setting process is beginning to speed up.
