Something (to read) for the Weekend   Leave a comment

Many thanks to Shuchi for giving me space on Crossword Unclued for one of those setter interview thingies. It was huge fun to do – here’s the result: http://www.crosswordunclued.com/2011/07/interview-anax.html

Something For The Weekend MK2 (just for Flashling!)   2 comments

Well, I’ve been banging away at this all day and, again, it’s a newspaper-destined puzzle that doesn’t quite fit the bill for me. It isn’t too hard – it’s just that the chosen theme isn’t one that will be universally popular. It isn’t specialist, but… oh, just solve it and see. Anyway, my good friend Flashling managed to polish off yesterday’s early offering with indecent haste and wondered what to do for the rest of the weekend, so here we go: http://crossword.info/anaxcrosswords/STFW007 (of course, that should read SFTW but it’s late and I’m tired). Once again, the interactive puzzle has a PDF link if you want to assault a former tree.

Something For The Weekend (slightly early)   3 comments

It’s been a few weeks since I posted one of these – and in fact I didn’t intend to. This was meant for newspaper publication but I’ve held it back because some of the answers are a bit more obscure than I’d like. The interactive puzzle here: http://crossword.info/anaxcrosswords/SFTW006 also has a link to a PDF so you can print it off.

PS: The PDF shows “Telegraph Toughie Sample 3” at the top. Completely ignore that – it’s just something on the puzzle template which I forgot to remove, and nothing to do with the Toughie series.

With final preparations for tomorrow’s Sloggers & Betters to sort out, I still wanted to begin work on a new puzzle today. It turned out to be more evidence that the setting process is beginning to speed up. Read the rest of this entry »

Anax in the Independent today   1 comment

Here’s the website link: http://www.independent.co.uk/extras/puzzles/crosswords/cryptic/ Not sure if I’ve done a “You either know the theme material or you don’t” jobbie before, so there might be a few grumbles today. I’ll take it like a man of course, but hope you have some fun with the puzzle anyway.
